ABVP protests shortage of teachers : The Tribune India


The Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gheraoed the Vice Chancellor of HP University on Saturday over absence of regular teachers in the law department. Students submitted a memorandum to the VC, demanding that regular teachers be posted to teach them. They also complained that the computer room in the law department had been locked for the last two years. ABVP students rued that if a facility had been provided, why were students being deprived of using the same. They also demanded that a lift should be installed in the law department as there were some specially abled students too.

SFI organises protest rally

The Students Federation of India (SFI) held a protest rally in Karsog College in Mandi against the anti-student policies of the government on Saturday. SFI, Shimla district, president Anil Thakur said the BJP regime was encouraging commercialisation of education, thereby depriving economically weak students an opportunity to study. The SFI activists demanded that student elections be restored as students had the right to vote and they should be allowed to elect their representative. They also expressed concern over drug addiction among youth.
