BIT extension Lalpur campus students enrolled in BBA and BCA courses opposed fee payment for the Monsoon semester owing to the lack of adequate classes in the previous semester and global pandemic. The students stated that they had already paid the Spring semester fee. Though in the Spring semester, the students attended classes only for two months out of the six months tenure due to the lockdown. Also, during the lockdown students attended online classes only for two of the subjects and that too for a duration of only two weeks. PDFs and YouTube links of the remaining subjects were provided for understanding their topics.

The students informed that the college administration has included development fee and exam fee in addition to the tuition fee resulting in an increase in the Monsoon semester fees. The students claimed that paying fees during this Corona pandemic is a challenge for their parents. No official order has been issued by the government regarding the re-opening of colleges or of fees payment.

Dr. S.P Krishna, Registrar of BIT Mesra explained that the semester fees were being collected for the smooth functioning of the institution and for imparting valuable education. He told that the students need to pay the hostel and mess fees only when the college commences.
