Do you ever wonder why we are motivated by a video or an article only for a short span of time? We see something which motivates us and immediately feel super-charged and inspired, as if we will scale a whole mountain tomorrow itself. However much something or someone motivates us, we soon switch back to the same old and lazy ways of dealing our life.
Trust me, you are no different than any ordinary person existing on this Earth. It feels so difficult to implement new ways, which are actually going to change our lives in a better way.
So what shall we do? If you want to turn yourself from an ordinary person to an extraordinary person, who can reach great heights, then you should keep these 4 things in mind:
- Limited offer-
Have you seen a football match? The players are told to score points in a fixed time. So they break their sweat trying to score as many points as possible against the other team in that period of time. Now imagine what would happen if they are told they have unlimited time to score points. They won’t work too hard to gain the scores. They will play casually thinking they have a lot of time and can start scoring more points anytime later.
The same happens in life as well. We think we have a lot of time to achieve our goals and can start working hard whenever we want to. But in reality, we fail to understand that we have a very limited time. Nobody exactly knows who has how much time. Remember this thing always and you will surely be motivated all the time.
- Eyes on the Prize-
Let’s understand this point through an example. If we keep a wood plank on the floor and tell someone to walk on it, he will very easily do it. But if we keep one end of the same plank on top of a building and the other end on another building nearby, connecting both of them, and then tell him to walk on it, the probability of him falling down is really high. This is because he is focusing on at what height he is and what are his chances of falling down, rather than focusing on his destination. Remember, it’s the same plank he crossed so easily when it was on floor.
If you focus only on the problems you will never achieve your goals. Cultivate and focus all your energy on your goals and rewards.
- Stay Hungry-
What happens when you are extremely hungry? All you can think is food, food and food. Everywhere and everything is exclusively about food. This is what you have to apply in life.
Keep visualizing your goals all the time. Be hungry for achieving it. This will help you stay motivated always.
- Fake it-
There’s a very famous idiom “Fake It Till You Make It”, which is proven by psychologists all around the globe. The idea behind this is to send fake signals to the brain, that you CAN do a particular job, so that you actually start believing in it and achieve even the impossible. I personally recommend this. Don’t believe me? Try faking a smile all day. You will eventually feel like a happy soul by the end of the day.
