IGNOU To Offer Several Courses To Students After XIIth

Named after the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi, the university was established in 1985 with a budget of ₹20 million, after the Parliament of India passed the Indira Gandhi National Open University Act, 1985 (IGNOU Act 1985) IGNOU is run by the central government of India, and with a total active enrollment of over 4 million students, claims to be the largest university in the world. The Open and Distance Learning or ODL education system introduced by IGNOU provides students with the factor of convenience and flexibility. This system of education gives the student flexibility of pursuing the course through Self Learning Material (SLM), the benefit being that there is no upper age limit. 

In a  press release on Sunday, Indira Gandhi National Open University announced that it will be offering students a wide variety of courses to pick from after their XIIth. The Open University has announced admission to its various programs offered through ODL mode for the academic session which is to begin from July 2020. 

The online application window for admissions 2020 to undergraduate courses and postgraduate courses at IGNOU is open. The eligible candidates can visit the official website of IGNOU and open the admissions portal in order to apply for a bachelor’s degree, postgraduate degree, PG Diploma, PG Certificate, and certificate programs, or appreciation/awareness level courses. The last date for students to submit their applications is July 31. 

The various streams offered by IGNOU for Bachelors’ include; Computers, Psychology, Commerce, Vocational programs, Public Administration, etc.
