The first season of BREATHE was indeed a gripping series starring R. Madhavan who helmed the character of Danny, a father who goes out on a murder spree to save his son who suffers from a severe respiratory disease. The season has an IMDb rating 8.4. “Breathe Into The Shadows” is the second season to this series starring Abhishek A. Bachchan, Nithya Menen, Amit Sadh and others.
Dr. Avinash Sabharwal, an expert psychiatrist who sporadically lends a supporting hand to Delhi police in various criminal cases lives tranquilly with his daughter Siya and wife Abha. The joy recedes soon as the 6 year old Siya is kidnapped from a birthday party. Cops scour the city but she is nowhere to be found. The couple, grieved by the agony, finds some peace when a kidnapper reaches out to them with a video of the kid. Both Avinash and Abha are delighted to see their daughter alive before the kidnapper directs the couple to murder random people (who actually have links to be the victims, or else why would the murderer choose them) before he falls short of the insulin shots for their juvenile diabetic daughter. Two of them have to scrape the barrel to get their daughter back alive.
Meanwhile, Kabir Sawant, the controversial cop who spent 6 months behind the bars is transferred to Delhi where he is ordained to crack the case. Zeba Rizwi, the super cop of Crime branch reproaches the decision but her seniors are way too impressed with Kabir’s keen eye to every detail.
“Breathe Into the Shadows” is indeed a spine chilling thriller with an edge of suspense ingrained in every second of it. Abhishek Bachchan reminds me of “GURU” by the end of this series. He has comparatively greater screen appearance due to the character that he essays, but Nithya Menen and Amit Sadh manage to leave an awe-inspiring performance. Each of them have explored their characters quite well.
But, like every other web series, it isn’t free of loopholes. The murderer sends a new i-pad every time he assigns a new murder to the couple. Such an extravagant villain should better use pendrives. Also, 12 episodes itself daunts me on a personal level. It could have certainly been shorter. I wish I could put out some more of the loopholes, but they would be spoilers.
I would desist from doing anything such.
So “BREATHE INTO THE SHADOWS” is definitely an exhilarating show and thoroughly exciting. Also, I assure you that a 3rd season is awaited. To know why, binge-watch it and you’ll know it yourself.
